Ms. Wendy Wigen
Technical Coordinator, Human Computer Interaction and Information Management (HCI&IM), Big Data Senior Steering Group (SSG), and Wireless Spectrum Research and Development (WSRD) SSG
Ms. Wigen provides subject matter expertise, technical leadership and management, and guidance to the NITRD Program in the areas of Human Computer Interaction and Information Management; Big Data, and Wireless Spectrum Research and Development. She supports the groups’ monthly meetings and workshops, to include researching relevant topic areas to ensure awareness of the ITR&D priorities that are of interest to her groups and the NITRD Program. Ms. Wigen also assists in the writing and editing of technical reports and planning documents (e.g., NSTC Federal Plans, workshop reports, and the annual supplement to the President’s Budget).
Before joining the NCO in November 2010, Ms. Wigen served as a government relations officer for EDUCAUSE, an association of over 2000 college and university IT professionals. In this role, she coordinated their Network Policy Council, and working groups dealing with wireless and converged communications. Ms. Wigen also led the telecommunications policy effort for EDUCAUSE, bringing together various stakeholders to educate Congress, the White House and the FCC and FTC on the need for a National Broadband Plan, for access to fast, affordable broadband for all citizens, and for the need to protect the characteristics of an open internet.
Ms. Wigen received a B.A. in History from the University of Puget Sound and M.S. in Information Management from Syracuse University.
